An International Environment

Students and Teachers come from a wide variety of backgrounds and countries.

Full time Boarding facilities are available with French families.

Throughout the school, students are encouraged to become bilingual so that
they can derive the maximum benefit from living in France and
mixing with students of different nationalities.

International Students / COMMUNITY

Specificities of Bordeaux International School

-          Approximately a hundred pupils aged from 2½ years to 18 years, representing 10 to 15 nationalities every year,
and whose stay at the school varies from 1 to 8 years;

-          parents who do not live in Bordeaux (particularly in the Secondary School)

-          most families are French-speaking or English-speaking, but some do not speak neither English nor
French fluently.

For students for whom English/French is not the mother tongue / First language, the school will provide
language support.  For those in examination years, there may be the need of supplementary language
support outside the scope of the specialist subject class.  This would be in order to prepare the student
in his/her formal level of written expression (at a cost - see fees list).  Students can prepare the IGCSE
examination in English as a Second language.
