Safeguarding & Wellbeing
Safeguarding...
The safety and well-being of our students is paramount.
A Safe and Caring environment...
The safety and wellbeing of our students is paramount. We are committed to providing a secure environment, to create an atmosphere where every individual can thrive. Our approach to safeguarding reflects our dedication to the welfare of our students, staff and the entire school community.
Our Collective Responsibility...
Safety is a team effort; at Bordeaux International School we all play a part. Teachers, staff, parents and students collaborate to make sure our school is a place where everyone feels secure, supported and respected.
All staff members undergo regular safeguarding training to stay informed about the latest best practices, policies and procedures. This ensures that our school remains a safe space for learning and that our staff is well-prepared to look out for the wellbeing of our students and respond effectively to any concerns.
We recognise that each child is unique.
Comprehensive Policies and Procedures...
We have established comprehensive safeguarding policies and procedures to keep our school safe. These guidelines address various aspects, including child protection, anti-bullying measures, online safety, and response protocols. Our commitment to safeguarding extends beyond the classroom, encompassing all school-related activities.
Open Lines of Communication...
Open communication is a key component of safeguarding. Our school provides a safe and supportive space for students to express themselves. We encourage students, parents and staff to report any concerns promptly, knowing that their voices will be heard and addressed with care, confidentiality and sensitivity.
Support When Needed...
Recognising that each student is unique, Bordeaux International School offers support to address individual needs. Our team is readily available to provide guidance, support and a listening ear, ensuring that students feel comfortable seeking help when needed.
Bordeaux International School is committed to providing a safe and caring space for every student. We appreciate the trust placed in us by our school community and remain steadfast in our commitment to safeguarding the wellbeing of each individual in our care.
Wellbeing...
Student well-being and their intercultural learning and development is at the heart of everything that BIS does.- CIS (Council of International Schools)
The wellbeing of students at BIS is of utmost importance to all staff in the school. We have a comprehensive tutor system in place to support students at different stages of their education and to provide a central point of contact for both students, their parents and their teachers.
Our commitment to small class sizes ensures that students are well supported in their learning and tasks can be tailored to the individual needs of the students. The small community feel of the school enables staff to support students and identify any needs promptly.
An effective communication network between school and home also allows for prompt intervention when required. BIS has developed strong links with external, bilingual professionals who can offer students and their families additional support when necessary.
