Students

Our students come from approximately 40 countries each year to study at BIS. This international dimension ensures a rich and diverse student body!

House System & House Captains...

House day group

All students and staff at BIS are allocated to one of our four Houses.

The Houses, named after famous people from Bordeaux, provide an additional sense of belonging within the school. As well as the acquisition of House Points for academic achievement and other notable work and effort. The House system provides the opportunity for students of all ages to work together and support one another through different House activities and dedicated House Days that are dispersed throughout the school year. The election of a House Captain from the Upper School allows our older students to take responsibility and develop leadership skills.

Student delegates...

At BIS, we empower our students to be active participants in their educational journey. The opportunity to become a student delegate exemplifies our commitment to nurturing leadership, fostering collaboration, and creating an environment where student voices truly matter.

At the beginning of each academic year, students participate in the democratic process of electing their class delegates. These representatives play a crucial role in voicing the collective opinions and concerns of the student body. They actively engage in termly meetings with the Senior leadership to discuss and propose initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall school experience. Their suggestions and insights contribute to the ongoing efforts to make BIS an even better place for learning and personal development. They ensure that diverse perspectives and opinions are heard, valued and integrated into the decision-making processes that shape the school's future.

The teachers are very willing and enthusiastic to help me. I’m enjoying my studies, I think there is a lot of emphasis on global citizenship as well as serious matters such as global warming.

Uniform...

At BIS, we do not require our students to wear a uniform. However, many students and staff opt to buy BIS merchandise, sold by our active PTA (Parent-Teacher Association). The money raised is used to improve the school's facilities.
