Early Learning
Bordeaux International School offers an innovative bilingual programme from the Early Learning section upwards, aligned with French and British national educational standards.
The Early Learning classes, with a maximum of 10 pupils in the Foundation and Reception years and 12 pupils in the Year 1 class, are taught by qualified and committed native speaking teachers. The Early Learning section offers both the French & British National Curriculums. Pupils whose chosen 1st language at school is French will also receive daily teaching in English. For non-French speaking pupils, the language programme adopted follows the British National Curriculum, while including daily teaching in French.
‘The learning environment at the school is a positive one based on respect and kindness.’- Council of International Schools (CIS)
Whether your child is English-speaking, French-speaking or neither, our teaching team strives to develop language skills in French and English, while respecting each child's mother tongue and cultural identity. Bilingualism is encouraged through early adoption and genuine cultural immersion, allowing natural language development in both languages in a caring, active and stimulating environment.
Differentiated support is provided, enabling each child to develop and become autonomous, whether working individually, in a semi-directed workshop, or in a group. From the age of 4, children also begin to learn a third language, Spanish, in weekly introductory sessions.
At our school, we encourage the development of independence, initiative, respect for others and self-confidence from an early age. Our experienced international team is there to listen to each child and help them to flourish.
The school welcomes all pupils full-time, four days a week.
