Duke of Edinburgh's International Award

Young people need experiences outside the classroom to become committed, responsible and fulfilled citizens of the world.

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is a global youth development programme available to all students aged 14 and above. It equips young people for life regardless of their background, culture, physical ability, skills and interests. The Award is a personal challenge and not a competition against others; it pushes young people to their limits and recognises their achievements.  It also provides opportunities to develop skills, become physically active, give service and experience adventure.

The programme allows participants to develop valuable life skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication and problem-solving.

Participating in the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is a unique and enriching experience that not only builds skills but also helps shape students into well-rounded, responsible and confident global citizens:

Explore New Horizons

Join the Award for a journey of exploration – discover the outdoors, hidden talents and the joy of learning something new.

Skill Adventures

Participants try their hands at skills they have always been curious about e.g. cooking, photography, or maybe even a bit of gardening.

Community Connection

Participants take part in projects that make a positive impact, whether it's helping at events or contributing to community initiatives.

Team Bonding

Team challenges are about having a good time with friends - building something together, planning a simple trip – the Award helps develop teamwork skills.

Fitness

Forget strict fitness routines. Move in ways that bring joy – dancing, casual sports, or exploring a new hobby. The Award encourages a regular commitment to staying active.

Global Awareness

The Award opens up opportunities globally, recognising participants' efforts in a way that may lead to new adventures.

Friendship

Participants build connections as they navigate the Award journey together. It's a community of like-minded individuals, making personal growth a shared experience.

University and Employment Enhancement

Completing the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is often viewed positively by universities, employers, and organisations, contributing to a well-rounded profile.
